Adjusting a historical building for a particular purpose is more difficult than building a new one. That is why the implementation of the project on renovating the former building of the Kryukov Barracks for the Central Naval Museum followed the single goal of making the new premises functional, convenient and beautiful without changing their historical facades. It was also important to preserve the ambiance of the former owners – sailors.
The unique architectural solutions of the building include a central hall and a glass atrium in the courtyard of the Kryukov Barracks. It was a difficult task to implement this idea in a historical building. This allowed to increase the usable floor area. Another reminder of both former and present owners of the building is the shape of the central hall dome that resembles a boat turned upside down and fits harmonically into the style of the existing premises.
Participation is free for all the registered participants of the 63 FIABCI congress.
You're welcome to book your participation in the Study Tour after the on-line registration to the Congress.
